If there’s one thing we’ve learned from this year’s NFL draft, our talents range from the talents of the first round to the undrafted free agents. Wide receiver and recent graduate of St. Augustine, Aakiel Greer is one of the talented players who wants to start in the NFL.
Greer has been focused on the game since he was able to walk. At the age of three, he started flag football in Koskiasco. He played all the way to junior high school. When he entered high school, his love for games grew there.
While in St. Augustine, Glia honed her football resume and gained praise along the way. His speed and agility were what most teams were looking for in this year’s draft, and Greer checked the box of athlete teams of the type needed on their roster.
Draft journeys haven’t been easy, but they’re certainly worth it, especially for Greer.
“I train every day and go to the gym. [and] We are working tirelessly to make sure we are ready and in good shape when we receive a call, “Glia said.
Thanks to his diligence and dedication, Glia has grown into an outstanding soccer player. This work ethic is what Greer believes will lead to an explosive and influential season early in a player’s career.
“I’m a versatile player. Many people in this draft think that when I can do a few things, I’m good at only one thing. [playing] Play all forms of special teams outside the receiver and slots. Greer said.
Greer’s draft journey, like everyone else, was very energetic. Adding a COVID pandemic didn’t make things easier, but Glia took advantage of some of what he could do.

“Covid was a blessing and a curse,” Greer said. “It was hard to see all the D1 programs playing while I had to send all the D2 programs home. It gave me more time to get better and work on myself. It was a blessing because he gave me. “
Greer frequently relied on support from his family, especially his mother, throughout his life, not to mention during his draft journey.
“My mother was the inspiration for my life. She was the only one who started playing sports in the first place,” Greer said.
“I always had to overcome what was overlooked on limited occasions. Through college, I just kept God first and had a family of prayers, and I I’ve always defeated all the obstacles that came to my way, “he said.
Now his family is very excited not only about the draft, but also about Greer’s recent graduation from St. Augustine’s University on April 30th. Greer agreed that no matter what happened in the draft, he was grateful for being in this position.
“I’m blessed because I’ve gone through the process most people dream of,” Glia said.
Glia’s advice to young athletes is what he’s trying to reflect every day.
“Keep God humble first and work hard, and you will never lose,” Glia said.
